Melville-based Henry Schein Inc. was rated to have the best reputation among its peers in the wholesale health care industry, according to a report by Fortune magazine titled "the world's most admired companies."

Henry Schein distributes products to medical, dental and veterinary offices.

The magazine used nine criteria and Henry Schein topped its competitors in six: use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, global competitiveness, long-term investment and quality of products and services.

It was ranked second in financial soundness; and third in people management and innovation.
