Henry Schein Inc. has agreed to acquire an Australia-based maker of software for veterinary practices, the Melville company announced Tuesday.

The software company, RxWorks Inc., posted sales of about $7 million for the 12 months ended June 30 and distributes to customers in 19 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Henry Schein, Long Island’s largest public company by revenue, said it expects the deal to close in the second half of January and to trim less than a penny a share from 2016 earnings.

The 26-year-old software company based in Brisbane has 68 employees, and current management will remain in place, Henry Schein said in a statement.

“The addition of RxWorks will nicely complement our expanding animal health technology businesses,” Henry Schein CEO Stanley Bergman said in a statement.

RxWorks chairman Nathan Basha said that joining Henry Schein will help expand “industry reach.”

Separately, Henry Schein announced that it had completed the 80.1 percent purchase of Yardley, Pennsylvania-based Vetstreet Inc. That deal was announced in November. Vetstreet provides cloud software used by veterinary practices for marketing and analytics.

Shares of Henry Schein climbed 7 cents Tuesday on the Nasdaq Stock Market to close at $146.45.
