HIA awards lab for innovation

Jill Clough-Johnston, the small business liaison officer for Brookhaven National Lab, received the Innovation Award on behalf of the lab on Tuesday at the Hauppauge Industrial Association's annual Awards Luncheon.

Brookhaven Lab was given the award for the lab's contribution to small business on Long Island and nationally.  Last year, BNL awarded $53.5 million in contracts to local businesses.  Nationally, the lab spent $105 million on contracts with small businesses during the first three-quarters of fiscal year 2010, which began on October 1, 2009. About $80 million of that amount was spent between April and June 2010.
