Hofstra University is offering metropolitan area entrepreneurs a chance to win up to $40,000 for developing business plans for startup companies catering to women and families.

The contest, hosted by the school's center for entrepreneurship, is part of the U.S. Small Business Administration's Innovate HER Competition. The effort aims to encourage products and services focused on improving the lives of women and their families.

Hofstra will choose one local winner, who will advance to compete in the SBA's larger contest for chances to win prizes ranging from $10,000 to $40,000.

Applications must be emailed by noon on Nov. 30 to stacey.sikes@hofstra.edu. For more information, visit hofstra.edu/InnovateHer.
