Home Depot plans to hire about 900 part-time associates on Long Island and more than 80,000 nationwide as the home improvement retailer prepares for spring — the company’s busiest selling season.

Permanent and seasonal job openings include positions for cashiers as well as sales and operations. Each of the 21 stores on Long Island will be hiring about 40 employees depending on need, a company spokesman said Wednesday.

More than half of Home Depot’s seasonal hires transitioned to permanent positions last year, according to the company.

Home Depot said it offers profit-sharing, tuition assistance, a 401k and a discounted stock purchase plan to part-time and full-time permanent associates.

All interested applicants must apply online at www.careers.homedepot.com.

Home Depot has 2,274 retail stores and employs more than 370,000 associates.
