HSBC says glitch that caused delays has been fixed
Some HSBC bank customers found delays in processing transactions this week, the bank acknowledged Wednesday.
A power equipment failure at an HSBC facility on Monday was the source of the problem, said bank spokesman Rob Sherman.
The technical issues have been fixed and the affected systems have been working since Wednesday morning, he said.
"The vast majority of delayed customer transactions had been processed by Tuesday morning," Sherman said. "We expect the remaining few to be processed before the start of business [Thursday]. The bank issued an apology to customers and said it will refund any fees they incurred as a result of delayed transactions, including fees related to insufficient funds.
HSBC, based in London, has more than 460 branches in the United States, 27 of which are on Long Island.
