NEW YORK — In a story published June 5, 2023, about Gannett journalists walking off their jobs, The Associated Press mischaracterized the unionization efforts at the Athens Banner-Herald and the Savannah Morning News. The journalists there are seeking to form a union through voluntary recognition by Gannett or through a National Labor Relations Board election. They did not vote to unionize.
