Huntington hotel

The Town of Huntington is closer to approving a plan to turn its former Town Hall at 227 Main St. into a 55-room boutique hotel, according to a story by Arlene Gross in The Times of Huntington.

The proposal still will need approval from the town's zoning board and planning board, as well as a building permit. Tax revenue from the building, now $57,000 a year, will go up to $455,000 a year once it is a hotel.

Plans by the architect Joseph Scarpulla call for the preservation of the exterior of the historic Classical Revival building. The town has 90 days to decise after a the July 6 public hearing.
