IRS offering extended hours at 2 Long Island locations to assist with taxes

Uncle Sam wants you to file your taxes, and is offering help at two Long Island locations.
The Internal Revenue Service will hold extended weekday hours and even some Saturday hours to help you with your returns.
The extended service hours are being offered at more than 200 "IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers" nationwide. About a dozen of those are in the metropolitan area, including two on Long Island.
The IRS TAC office located at 999 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, is offering Saturday hours on March 28 and, for those seeking filing extensions, also on April 25 and May 30.
The IRS TAC office at 5000 Corporate Court, Holtsville, will have Saturday hours on April 11.
Both offices, whose normal business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, will offer extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 30. Those hours will run 7-8:30 a.m. and 4:30-6 p.m., the IRS said.
Filers seeking assistance will need to schedule an appointment at 844-545-5640. They will also need two original forms of ID, one being a current government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state ID card or passport,
The second item can be a Social Security card, tribal membership document or other acceptable items that can be found on the official IRS website.
The IRS also notes you’ll need to be prepared to substantiate any claims for refundable credits on your returns and advises you to go through those eligibility requirements ahead of your appointment.
