Junior League seeks business attire

Donations of new and gently-used women’s business attire are welcome now at the Junior League of Long Island, based in Roslyn Village.

The group aims to give lower-income women a chance to improve job-hunting prospects by providing clothing, shoes, briefcases, accessories, manicures and child care.

The donations can help women feel more confident while interviewing for a job, the charity says.

Donors can bring clothing to the JILI Thrift Shop at 1395 Old Northern Blvd. for its First Step Program. This is the fourth year in a row the program has offered "professional attire to local women transitioning into the workforce."

Participants are referred from local social service agencies, shelters, and food pantries.

"Junior League members personally assist attendees with selecting appropriate clothing for their career," the group says.

Donations are tax deductible and all styles and sizes are appreciated.
