Kennedy & Gillen to merge with upstate law firm

Kennedy & Gillen, a quarter-century-old Garden City law firm whose clients include King Kullen Grocery Co. Inc., will be be merging with a major upstate law firm on Feb. 1.

The three attorneys of Kennedy & Gillen will join the Garden City office of Bond, Schoeneck & King, which has headquarters in Syracuse and offices in five other upstate cities as well as Naples, Fla., Overland Park, Kan., and New York City.

Kennedy & Gillen’s lawyers -- Bernard Kennedy, Megan Gillen and Christopher Mansfield -- have represented Kimco Realty Corp. and Westbury Realty Ventures L.P. in a variety of real estate matters, including negotiating and drafting leases. Kennedy, the firm’s founding partner, has served as outside general counsel to King Kullen for 20 years.

Bond first announced the deal in December along with a separate merger of the seven-lawyer, city-based firm of Kehl, Katzive & Simon. That firm was absorbed by Bond Jan. 1.
