New Hyde Park-based Kimco Realty Corp. is ready to swing the wrecking ball at a vacant Harlem building as a first step toward constructing a retail complex at the site, a Wall Street Journal blog reports.

The company is seeking a permit to demolish the empty building at 125th Street and  Frederick Douglass Boulevard, but has been held up by litigation and finance issues, the report says.

National retailers are among the tenants Kimco is seeking for the project.
