L&R Distributors to close Deer Park facility, lay off up to 48

L&R Distributors Inc., a Brooklyn-based distributor of cosmetics and other goods, will close its Deer Park warehouse later this year, laying off up to 48 employees, according to a state regulatory filing.
L&R Distributors, which has distribution locations on the east and west coasts, said it will close its facility at 120 Industry Ct. on Oct. 30. A total of 70 employees work at the location.
The company is constructing a new distribution and training facility in Monroe Township, New Jersey, according to a notice on L&R Distributors’ website.
The company’s website lists a second New York location, a corporate office and warehouse operation in Brooklyn. According to a separate WARN filing, 79 employees at the Brooklyn facility will be impacted by a relocation from that site as well.
The state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN, requires companies with at least 50 full-time employees to file a notice of a mass layoff or closing 90 days in advance.
