Lake Success-based Canon USA Inc. has sold 178 portable, lightweight digital radiography systems to hospitals throughout Mexico, the company said this week.

The CXDI-50G and CXDI-55G systems, which will improve digital imaging in trauma and intensive care units and at bedsides, “reaffirm Canon's commitment to provide quality medical equipment to help facilitate better patient care," the company said in a news release.

The CXDI-50G digital radiography system “can be retrofitted onto almost any new or existing x-ray equipment including an upright stand, universal stand, or bucky table,” Canon said. (A bucky table is a versatile, adjustible hospital work surface, often featuring a central “bucket” or storage area.)

The Canon CXDI-55G is 0.6 inches thick and weighs 7.5 lbs., and has an effective imaging area of 14 x 17 inches, the company said. The company did not disclose the sales price of the equipment sold to the Mexican hospitals; but previous versions of Canon's CXDI imaging systems were priced at $250,000 to $350,000 each.
