LaunchPad to open Stony Brook campus location
LaunchPad, a coworking space for startup businesses, is opening its first college campus location Wednesday at Stony Brook University.
LaunchPad Stony Brook will be located in the engineering department building and is meant to be an information source for students looking to transform ideas into business models, said Andrew Hazen, co-founder and CEO of LaunchPad.
"Stony Brook is one of the many colleges that we have here on Long Island that's been really helpful in fueling our growth," said Hazen, who founded LaunchPad in 2013. "This LaunchPad is really set up to aid and assist the students in converting their ideas into businesses."
The new location, Hazen said, is going to be much smaller than LaunchPad's other two facilities in Mineola and Huntington, but during the first quarter of 2015, there may be an opportunity to take additional space somewhere on campus.
"This helps us look for entrepreneurs and companies to invest in," said Hazen, who is also chief executive of Angel Dough Ventures, a startup accelerator for new business ideas.
The company plans to open another location in Great Neck in January.
