West Hempstead-based National Wholesale Liquidators Llc, which shut down many of its stores after filing for bankruptcy in January 2009, is on the mend — and has reopened one of its New Jersey stores.

Wednesday's Jersey Journal reports that shoppers were pleased with the reopening.

The paper’s headline reads: "Bargain hunters swarm as National Wholesale Liquidators reopens Jersey City store.” The story said “hundreds of shoppers eager to find bargains packed” the store.

Scott Rosen, the company’s chief executive, told the paper, "I thought we would have a good reception, but it's a testament to how much people enjoy this type of store."

Rosen's mother, Eva, opened the first National Wholesale Liquidators in Queens in 1984, he told the paper.
