MeyeWorld, a Hicksville maker of casual footwear, has a new licensing agreement with "Jersey Shore's" Nicole Polizzi, aka "Snooki."
The West John Street company will make and market a line of flip-flops and sandals retailing for $15 to $50. A few Snooki shoe fashions will be in stores in time for the 2011 winter holiday season, with a much bigger shopping selection by spring 2012.
MeyeWorld, which has been in business for about four years, decided to approach Polizzi as a means of promoting the company, said owner Danny Kaminer.
"We are a Long Island-based footwear manufacturer, and we specialize in beachwear and sandals, and to promote our products we realized that we needed to be associated with someone like Nicole," Kaminer said.
"Nicole is today. She's a pop culture icon. We decided to contact her, and she was very receptive. We made a presentation of our ideas, and she loved it," he said. The connection between Polizzi, her reality TV show and MeyeWorld's products is a natural one, Kaminer says. "It's beach, it's partying, it's fashion, it's fun."
MeyeWorld specializes in children's shoes, marketed under the Bellini Kids label.
The company decided to introduce a few Snooki shoes in time for the Christmas and Hanukkah holiday season, Kaminer said, "because of her popularity, there's a clamor for her."
