LI company to stream Olympic Games to China

NeuLion Inc., an Internet video company based in Plainview, has been contracted by China Network Television to provide an online video stream of the 2012 Olympic Games to China, it was announced Monday.

Chinese consumers will be able to access NeuLion's 24/7 live stream of the Summer Olympics coverage on their PCs and mobile phones, along with a slew of other interactive features to keep viewers up to date on the games. The opening ceremony of the 2012 games will take place Friday in London.

NeuLion's HD video stream will be part of CNTV's new media service called "CNTV 5+ VIP."

"The sheer size and potential to expand new digital services in China is enormous," said NeuLion chief executive Nancy Li in a news release. "Our technology and video infrastructure in China represents a strong foundation for other content owners interested in leveraging the opportunities here in China."

CNTV has the exclusive rights to broadcast the games via Internet and mobile in mainland China. It is owned by China Central Television -- the state-owned TV network in China.
