Rear-seat entertainment systems in new Mercedes-Benz models will be equipped with wireless video and sound systems supplied by a division of SMSC of Hauppauge.

Kleer Semiconductor Corp., the subsidiary, will supply Daimler AG with back-seat video screens and wireless headphone systems for 2010 E-Class and S-Class models, SMSC said in a Thursday news release.

“Each screen can display different content and occupants can select which audio stream their headphones receive," SMSC said.

“Multiple occupants can share the same stream. The ultra low power consumption of Kleer technology ensures many hours of enjoyment before headphone battery charging is needed.”
