Lawrence Weber is the entrepreneur in residence at Stony Brook University, and on Wednesday night he'll be sharing his expertise -- gained from 15 years of work experience at a Fortune 500 company and running his own consultancy -- with the Suffolk County Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club.

At the talk Wednesday night, Weber is expected to give advice to budding entrepreneurs on how to get a potential new product from the idea to prototype phase and how they can find funding for a new business. Weber added that he also wants to aid potential entrepreneurs in understanding what they want out of beginning a start-up business.

At Stony Brook, Weber also serves as the business development manager for the Center for Advanced Technology in Diagnostic Tools and Sensor Systems, and the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology NYSTAR Programs. Weber told Newsday he also wants to share how those two centers can aid entrepreneurs.

Weber's talk will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the H. Lee Dennison Building at 100 Veteran’s Highway in Hauppauge. It is free and open to the public.
