LI real estate brokers group creates new strategic officer post

The Commercial and Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island, an industry group of about 300 local commercial real state brokers, has added the position of strategic officer to its leadership ranks as the organization attempts to become more active in the community.

David Pennetta, a past president of CIBS and a principal at Oxford & Simpson Realty Services, will head up the new post. The strategic officer will work to form alliances with other business groups on Long Island, provide CIBS' perspective in local issues and make the organization more visible.

While CIBS before existed more as a support and educational group for brokers, "what’s happened now is we’re .?.?. becoming more of an extravert in the business community," Pennetta said.

Pennetta said he hopes to start his new roles by meeting with politicians and working to educate the local community to understand the benefits of diversified developments to the Long Island economy.
