The Port Washington-based sweepstakes company Publishers Clearing House sent Danielle Lam and the rest of its Prize Patrol to a childrens’ homeless shelter, in California, to hand over a $25,000 donation.

The recipient, StandUp For Kids, was chosen by PCH fans on its Facebook page. Two other finalists for the donation were Operation Homefront, in upstate New York, and the ASPCA in Manhattan.

The San Diego donation, on Dec. 14, took the form of a Big Check, of course, and the event was recorded on video, then posted to YouTube.

“We kept the votes a secret throughout the last week of The Give Back campaign, which means right now, no one knows where we’re heading or which charity it will be — including, of course, the charities!” the sweepstakes company said on its Facebook page, before making the donation. “We can’t wait to see their surprised faces!”
