The Newsday Long Island Index fell for the second straight week as jitters over inflation, higher interest rates and prospective tariffs made stocks less desirable to some investors. Only 10 of the 30 stocks in the index were higher, led by Melville communications systems maker Comtech (+3%). Garden City kitchenware seller Lifetime Brands (-8%) led the decliners. The index is down 4.9 percent year to date.
