The bottom line of Melville-based Hain Celestial Group is being helped by increased sales at its British subsidiary, the Linda McCartney Foods Co., the company reports this week.

The subsidiary was founded by Beatles singer Paul McCartney's late wife, who died in 1998. Her company was bought by Hain Celestial in 2006. It specializes in frozen vegetarian meals.

Hain’s European sales decreased $4.3 million, or 12.1 percent, in the most recent quarter ended Sept. 30.

But that was “partially offset by increased sales of our Linda McCartney meat-free frozen foods,” Hain said.
