LISTnet moves headquarters to Mineola

The Long Island Software Technology Network, which was previously based in the LI Tech Mall in Hauppauge, has moved its official headquarters into the co-working and incubator space at LaunchPad Long Island in Mineola.

The start-up accelerator program, COMETS, which was spearheaded by LISTnet, has also moved into LaunchPad, said LISTnet president Peter Goldsmith. The first iteration of the six-month long program will end in June, and Goldsmith said he expects there to be changes to the program before it launches again.

"When I first started [COMETS], I said... let's get it off the ground instead of talking about it," he said. "We’ve learned, and we’re now going to work on it."

What will happen to the emptying space in the tech mall in Hauppauge -- which business officials once imagined filling with several high-tech companies -- is unknown. The building, which was once only occupied by accounting consultancy Fuoco Group, was renovated last year to accommodate several small-sized firms.

Meanwhile, LaunchPad, which opened three months ago, has filled up.

The 12 offices on the second floor of the building have all been leased, and the space has sold co-working passes -- where the holders share a communal work space on the first floor of the building -- to around two dozen individuals, said Andrew Hazen, a co-investor in LaunchPad.

Hazen said he hopes to build three more offices into the buildings due to demand.

LaunchPad rented its last office space to start-up ShoutOMatic, a startup focused on voice messaging across social media platforms, about two weeks ago.
