The country’s growing multiculturalism has prompted Lloyd Staffing in Melville to launch a diversity unit whose mission is to “find the broadest slate of diversity job candidates for client searches.”

The temporary and permanent-placement firm believes that current population trends presage greater demands for jobs such as chief diversity officer, manager of inclusion and employee engagement and compliance manager.

“We saw that many more searches given to us by clients, particularly within HR, required diversity and inclusion backgrounds,” said Nancy Schuman, vice president of marketing. “It was the same kind of buzz that preceded the advent of job titles like Web developers and Web managers back at the start of the Internet and most recently, the growth of social media strategists and search-engine optimization managers.”

The units search for candidates will include factors such as race, ethnicity, age, gender, military status, veteran status, disability and sexual orientation.

LLoyd’s director of diversity and inclusion search, Rahsaan Diaz, will run the unit.
