The Long Island Association business group unveiled an initiative Tuesday night to spur the advancement of women in business.

The effort, called the Women's Collaborative, seeks to promote cooperation and communication between business and professional groups that cater to women in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

"We want to facilitate the elevation of more women in high-ranking executive positions in their respective companies," said LIA president Kevin Law.

The collaborative was launched at a reception for more than 100 women business leaders, held at the Fox Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. The LIA worked with the Ivy Network to organize the event.
