Suffolk County to host hiring fairs, career info session

Suffolk County's One-Stop Employment Center in Hauppauge will host a variety of job fairs and a career information session over the next two weeks.
On Wednesday the county's Department of Social Services will be recruiting from 9 to noon for three temporary positions in its Home Energy Assistance Program. The clerk typist job pays $13.14 an hour and includes such functions as the entering and retrieval of documents from computer programs and handling residents' emergency requests for fuel during evenings and weekends. The community-service worker position pays $11 an hour. and the duties include assisting residents in applying for energy-related social-service progams, conducting in-person and telephone interviews and conducting home visits to determine eligiblity for energy-related benefits. The fuel-assistance worker job also pays $11 an hour and has similar duties.
Next Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. a representative from Suffolk County Community College will conduct an informational session on employment in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry and in the high-tech manufacturing field. Registration is required.
Also next Tuesday and on Dec. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Harbor Freight will be recruiting for logistics associates, logistics supervisor, sales associates and sales supervisor for its new Riverhead location.
Next Wednesday from 9 to noon, Peoplescout will be recruiting on behalf of Bridgestone Tire for automotive technicians and for sales associates.
On Dec. 13 from 9 to noon, Harold Levinson Associates Distributors will be looking to hire warehouse associates at $12 an hour. Prospective employees must know how to use a hand-held computer. Positions are available in Farmingdale.
