Lowe's Riverhead plan advances
Looks like the Lowe's Home Improvement store in Riverhead is a go.
The store will be built on the site of the Suffolk Life newspaper building on Route 58.
The wrecking ball cannot yet be deployed, though, Riverhead Town officials say.
This summer, after getting final site plan approval in June, Lowe's has been filing the paperwork it needs to get a building permit, and has a few more details to iron out, said Riverhead site plan reviewer Theresa Masin.
One obstacle had been its request for a stop light allowing customers to enter the parking lot without having potential customers take a longer route past a competing Home Depot store. But the Suffolk legislature approved a waiver of the county Public Works Department denial of a stop light request.
