Lower power-plants emissions

Power plant in Northport Credit: Newsday
National Grid and LIPA have recently completed the first phase of a four-year energy-efficiency project at the Northport and Port Jefferson power plants, Arlene Gross writes in the Times Beacon Record newspapers, “aiming for greater energy efficiency, fewer pollutants and lower levels of greenhouse gases.”

"So we're very, very excited and delighted about the results," said Robert Teetz, vice president of environmental services for National Grid.
