The Mariani family of Old Brookville has added another vineyard to its Banfi Vintners wine empire, buying a Washington state winery that specializes in fine rieslings, an industry magazine reports.

Terms of the Mariani purchase of Pacific Rim Winery were not disclosed, the Wine Spectator reported in a Wednesday article. Banfi's co-chief executives James Mariani and his cousin Cristina Mariani-May made the purchase.

"One thing Cristina and I learned from our fathers was that from time to time you get a chance to partner with people who are specialists and extraordinarily dedicated …," James Mariani told the Wine Spectator.

"Something like this is a rare investment for the family. The wines are extraordinary and the consumer is very happy. That's something the family is dedicated to."

The Marianis own and market popular labels such as Riunite and Bolla, and fine wines including Castello Banfi's Brunello di Montalcino.
