The Port Washington market research company NPD Group has agreed to buy an Arizona firm that specializes in analysis of the mobile and digital entertainment industries.

NPD did not say how much it will pay for In-Stat, which is based in Scottsdale, Ariz.; has offices in China and in Massachusetts; and has salespeople in Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.

"In-Stat offers reports and advisory services that help its clients understand and identify opportunities in the rapidly-converging world of mobile phones, connected devices, and digital entertainment," NPD said in a news release.

Clients include technology vendors, equipment manufacturers, service providers, and media companies.
