McDonald's buys Medford land for $3.3 million to build restaurant

The nation's largest restaurant chain is building an eatery in Medford, after buying the land last month.
McDonald’s purchase of a 2.11-acre parcel of wooded land for $3.3 million from Medford Sills Development LLC and Medford Station Development LLC closed on June 4, said Jillian Buckvar, a representative for the owners and chief operating officer at JSR Capital Group, a real estate investment firm in Melville.
Tod Buckvar, founder of JSR, also owns Medford Sills Development.
McDonald’s plans to open its 3,750-square-foot fast-food restaurant with two drive-thru lanes in late fall, Jillian Buckvar said.
Chicago-based McDonald’s Corp. did not respond to Newsday’s requests for comment.
The land McDonald’s bought is at 647 Patchogue-Yaphank Rd., between Southaven Avenue and National Boulevard.
McDonald's site plan was approved last August by the Town of Brookhaven, Drew Scott, spokesperson for the town, told Newsday in a text message.
The land McDonald's bought is among four commercial parcels totaling 12.5 acres that were subdivided after receiving approval from the town board in May 2024, he said.
The other three parcels have been zoned by the town for different uses — another restaurant with double drive-thru lanes, a gas station with a convenience store and a self-storage facility.
No entities have agreed to buy or lease any of those three parcels for development yet, Tod Buckvar said.
At the end of last year, McDonald's had 45,356 restaurants. The 13,706 locations in the United States included more than 70 on Long Island.
About 95% of McDonald’s restaurants are franchises.
