The deal to buy Avid Medical Inc., of Toano, Va., "strengthens Medical Action's core capabilities in developing, manufacturing and delivering quality medical products to hospitals and health-care institutions," Medical Action chief executive Paul D. Meringolo said.
A news release described Avid as "a leading provider of custom procedure trays serving the health-care industry."
Medical Action Industries makes dozens of products including sterilization and intravenous kits, sponges, hats for newborn babies, patient slippers and burn dressings.
It sells to "acute-care facilities in both domestic and international markets, including physician, dental, veterinary offices, outpatient surgery centers and long-term care facilities."
