You don’t have to be on LinkedIn, the social networking site for professionals, to attend the debut Links and Drinks networking event June 23 at the Garden City Hotel.

Andrew Hazen, founder of Prime Visibility digital marketing company, will be there moderating a panel and sharing LinkedIn basics, as well as tips for the initiated for further building their networks.

The idea, says Patrick Smalley, the hotel's executive vice president, is, of course, to show off the venue for business meetings, but also to “combine old-school networking with new-school networking.” So many people, he says, are on LinkedIn, but really don’t know how to make the most of it.

Attendees can connect to one another on LinkedIn using their mobile devices, as well as sample a new creation – the LinkedIn martini.
