The staff at the EGC Group, an advertising agency based in Melville, didn't go home Thursday night. They were working through the evening and into Friday as part of a charity effort called CreateAthon.

Agencies that participate in CreateAthon work straight through a 24-hour period to create full ad campaigns for local nonprofits. This is EGC Group's fifth year participating in the event.

This year, the EGC Group is creating ad campaigns for three local nonprofits -- Education & Assistance Corp., Independent Group Home Living and Girl Scouts of Suffolk County. The three organizations submitted an application to be considered, but were chosen by a vote via social media.

The EGC Group will finish their work around noon Friday.
