Melville-based FalconStor Software Inc. has named a new vice president for North American sales.
FalconStor's new executive, Gary Quinn, a former information technology commissioner for Suffolk County government, is also a veteran of CA Technologies, one of FalconStor's rival software companies on Long Island.
FalconStor said Quinn's task will be to increase sales and partnerships in North America, following on the company's recent high-profile sucesses teaming up with Dell and HP.
During more than 20 years at CA Technologies, Quinn was executive vice president of international sales and North American channel sales, FalconStor said in a Tuesday statement.
"At CA, Quinn turned around a three-year decline of North American channel business to an annual growth rate of 25 percent," the company statement said.
Jim McNiel, president and chief executive of FalconStor, said Quinn "is the right man at the right moment for FalconStor, as we intensify our focus on developing, marketing and selling solutions designed for high-volume sales through our partner network.”
FalconStor's shares were down 8 cents to $3.72 in mid-day trading Tuesday; its 52 week range is $2.23-$4.72.
