The defense electronics maker Comtech PST Corp., of Melville, has the go-ahead to fill $7.4 million in orders for radio signal jamming equipment.

The work authorization came in a subcontract that Comtech PST had already received, but was subsequently delayed by the prime contractor. The company did not disclose the name of that prime contractor.

"These orders were previously subject to a work stoppage as a result of a protest against Comtech's customer's prime contract, which has since been withdrawn," Comtech PST said in a Monday news release.

The orders are for integrated amplifier systems with the latest solid-state transistor technology, and allow broad frequency coverage, Comtech said. The systems are key components in the radar jamming systems manufactured by the prime contractor, the company said.

Comtech PST is a subsidiary of Melville-based Comtech Telecommunications Corp. The parent company's shares were up 12 cents in early trading Tuesday, to $30.67. The stock's 52-week range is $23.51 to $35.65.
