Melville products "money savers"
A line of lighting controls made by Leviton Manufacturing Co., of Melville, has been named one of the top money-saving products for 2010 by Buildings Magazine.
The Leviton LevNet wireless controls create enough power, on their own, to operate without batteries or electrical supply wires.
“The motion of a switch actuation, light on a solar cell, or temperature differentials in the environment provide power to Leviton transmitters, allowing zero-maintenance wireless devices,” Leviton says on its website.
The LevNet control system “allows for installation of a wide variety of devices without new wiring. All products are self-powered and don't require batteries, which saves on maintenance costs,” Buildings magazine said, explaining its choice of LevNet for the money-saving list. Buildings Magazine said it chose its top 2010 money-saving devices based on the following factors: initial cost, life-cycle costs, sustainability, longevity, energy efficiency, occupant productivity and maintenance requirements.
