Melville toolmaker honored for charity

Melville-based MSC Industrial Direct Co. Inc., direct marketers of industrial tools and equipment, has been honored for philanthropy by the Long Island chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
MSC received the Outstanding Corporation Award for its financial support and efforts to motivate others to give to not-for-profit groups.
Erik Gershwind, above left, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MSC, called the award "very special because it is a testament to our associates’ passion for supporting our communities.”
