Misonix of Farmingdale reports 2Q loss

Second Quarter: Ended Dec. 31
Net income: Loss of $367,000, compared with profit of $194,000 in the same period last year.
Net revenues: $3.4 million compared with $4.9 million in the year-ago quarter.
Outlook: "Our direct sales force is successfully building the Misonix brand as a world leader in ultrasonic surgical devices," said president and chief executive Michael A. McManus Jr. "We expect further expansion of our worldwide distribution organization in the months to come with new partners in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America."
Company statement: The company has hired and trained new sales people, including nine direct sales people and 65 contract and sales agents in the United States.; and three direct sales people, two contract sales agents and 30 specialty distributors for export sales.
