Motorola Inc.’s $1.2 billion sale of wireless assets won’t affect its employees on Long Island at the former Symbol Technologies site in Holtsville, Motorola told Newsday on Monday.

“This does not impact Symbol,” Motorola spokeswoman Jennifer Erickson said in an e-mail message.

The sale of Motorola assets to Schaumburg, Ill.-based Nokia Siemens Networks affects 7,500 Motorola employees.

“Motorola retains… substantially all the patents related to its wireless network infrastructure business, and other selected assets,” Motorola said in a news release Monday.
