MSC Direct adds new director

Melville-based MSC Industrial Direct Co. on Monday disclosed that it has appointed a new director to its board.

Jonathan L.S. Byrnes, the new board member, is an MIT senior lecturer with expertise in supply chain management and customer-supplier relationships. Byrnes, 61, of Lexington, Mass., is also the president of a consulting company. His appointment brings the number of directors to eight, including five independent directors.

MSC is a direct marketer and distributor of metalworking, maintenance, repair and operation supplies to industrial customers.
