Nassau County will hold an event Friday to encourage local employers to hire veterans and to help veterans start businesses.

The workshop, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., is being organized by the county's Local Economic Assistance Corp. with sponsorship from the Long Island Development Corp. and Long Island Small Business Assistance Corp.

The event will be held at the Museum of American Armor, 1303 Round Swamp Rd. in Bethpage.

Among the speakers will be representatives of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Northport and United Veterans Beacon House.
