Entrepreneurial high-school students will compete next month for scholarship money in a marketplace of  ideas, Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos announced Tuesday.

Teams of students from 13 Nassau County high schools will vie for $1,500 scholarships for the best business concept that could thrive in the current economy.

“The ideas of young adults are often the best source for cultivating the companies of the future,” Maragos said in a news release. “We want those new companies to be inspired here and to stay in Nassau County.”

Entries will be judged  April 17. Each student on the winning  team will receive a $1,500 scholarship  from Hofstra University; the team that comes in second will receive $4,000 to be split among its members.  Everyone will get pizza.
