An executive for Plainview-based NeuLion Inc. says the streaming TV technology company is the “de facto leader in live sports.”

Beet.TV reports that NeuLion “is streaming live video over the Internet for the NBA, NHL, NFL, UFC and over 100 college sports programs, making it the ‘de facto leader in live sports programming,’ says Marc Sokol,” executive vice president of NeuLion.

The interview on Beet.TV, a streaming video industry website, took place earlier this month at the Streaming Media East Conference, a Manhattan trade show.

The Beet.TV story also said, “as an extension of its live services, the Long Island-based company is providing ‘TV everywhere’ solutions to cable operators and programmers with live linear programming.”

In the interview, Sokol says NeuLion’s “end-to-end solution for creating a ‘television network’ over IP is also being provided to niche programmers.”

NeuLion was founded in 2004 by Nancy Li, a former executive with Islandia-based CA Technologies (then known as Computer Associates International Inc.). Li, the NeuLion president, is the wife of CA’s co-founder Charles Wang.

Wang is board chairman of NeuLion.
