In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in October, local nonprofit and philanthropic organizations are inviting Long Island businesses to nominate valued employees with disabilities for a new scholarship award.

The NDEAM Champion Award, created by the Corporate Source, a Garden City-based nonprofit that helps place workers with disabilities, aims to recognize the workplace contributions of disabled employees. Deadline for nominations is Sept. 27.

The winner, who will receive a $3,000 scholarship courtesy of philanthropic group the Claire Friedlander Family Foundation, will be announced Oct. 6.

Employers can submit nominations online at TheCorporateSource.org.
