If you’re looking for another way to compare your salary to your industry’s average both locally and nationally, you now have another resource. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics just released the average hourly wages for Long Island’s major occupations as of May 2011.

The average wage for those in the computer and math category, for example, is $38.48 an hour, compared with $37.85 nationally.

The average wage for someone working in health-care support, which includes home health-care aides, is $15.41 an hour, versus $13.16 nationally. Click here for the full list:
