The New York State Labor Department has rescheduled the release dates for local employment and unemployment data, after a lengthy delay caused by the partial federal government shutdown.
Jobs data for September and October will be released on Nov. 21. They were originally scheduled for publication on Oct. 17 and Nov. 14, respectively.
The unemployment numbers for both months are scheduled to come out on Nov. 26. The original release date were Oct. 22 for the September data and Nov. 19, for the October numbers.
The backlog resulted because the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which prepares the reports, was closed because of the shutdown. The shutdown lasted from Oct. 1 to Oct. 16.
