New hires at law firms

James Major, left, an immunologist and microbiologist, has joined Scully, Scott, Murphy & Presser in Garden City as a patent agent. The Brooklyn resident was a legal intern at Kenyon & Kenyon in Manhattan.

Ethan D. Balsam, right, has joined Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo, Cohn & Terrana in Uniondale as an associate in the employment and labor department. The Manhattan resident worked as an associate at Ingerman Smith in Hauppauge.
